Brittani Lovelace, Weir Scholarship Foundation

I would like to share something very near and dear to my heart:

Seven years ago I was asked if I would like to apply for this scholarship called the Shirley and Billy Weir Scholarhip. It sounded great! It would cover tuition, housing, meal plan, and books for any college that I wanted to attend. It sounded too good to be true, but I applied anyways. To my surprise, I got a call saying that I was a finalist and was asked to come in for an interview. I remember walking into the room with about 15 people sitting around a table with my application sitting in front of each of them. They asked me a bunch of questions: why should I get the scholarship? What are my goals and aspirations? How will I give back to the foundation if given the scholarship?

They said that if I were to get the scholarship I would be called that night. I stayed up all night long. No call. I was sad, but determined. I had a goal to go to BYU and I was going to go one way or another. I had always known that if I wanted to go to college, I had to pay for it myself. I remember sitting at the computer a few days after my interview and crunching numbers. If I worked full time while going to college and used all of the money that I had in savings then I would almost be able to cover everything. Just as I was printing off my budget, I got the call. I had received the scholarship.

I just remember dropping to my knees and thanking God for this wonderful blessing. Seven years later, I still thank God for the Shirley and Billy Weir Scholarship. I have graduated from BYU without having to drop a penny for school. Because of this, I was able to use some of my savings to live in China and volunteer as an English teacher which was a life-changing experience. I have also met some of the best people that this world has to offer through being a member of the Weir Foundation. This experience has completely changed my life.

Now, I have the opportunity to give back by helping raise money for the Foundation. I am asking for any amount of donation that you are able to give to help continue to change lives through this incredible foundation.

One of our scholars will be representing the foundation in a 100 hole golf tournament.

Please visit www.pgagolfday.com/georgia. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. The proceeds will benefit the Georgia PGA Foundation and the Weir Foundation. You will receive a receipt immediately upon making your contribution, which should be tax deductible.
